Model 450 Assembly Parts & Troubleshooting

The Model 320 Air Transporter is designed to move 60 lbs of mass (at 35 PSI - .06 CFM). The 320 is capable of doing the work of 4 conveyors and comes with a two year warranty, provides variable speed control (15-40 ft./min.) and is available from stock.

INSTRUCTIONS

Remove carriage top plate and use as template to drill and counterbore four outer holes in tray. Replace carriage top plate using short screws in the center holes. Mount tray with four longer screws in outer holes. Care should be taken when drilling holes. Misalignment can cause distortion resulting in loss of power and shuttle.

Short trays transporting light material can be used without support. Long trays and when transporting heavy material trays must be supported at both ends.

Unit as shipped has been adjusted for 20 lb. tray on Model 320 and 30 lb. tray on Model 450. Adjustment may be needed when using a lighter or heavier tray. To make adjustment place a sample of material to be transported on the tray. Adjust regulating rod at feed end of carriage in or out for best shuttle.

(Caution) Do not turn regulating rod in so far that unit will hesitate at end of stroke. Adjust air pressure to suit load. For best performance use trays made from hot rolled steel.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Unit has been designed to be as trouble free as possible. However some things are beyond our control.

1. Flooding - Too much oil will load the muffler and cause too much back pressure. causing unit to run slow.
SOLUTION: Remove muffler and run unit without load. It should clear itself in a few minutes. Replace with new muffler.

2. Foreign material under poppet valve will cause unit to stop.
SOLUTION: Remove tray and carriage plate. Remove cover over poppet valve then remove poppet valve. (A small pencil magnet is best for this.) Clean and replace.

3. Carriage strikes end of housing. Tray is too heavy.
SOLUTION: Replace with lighter tray. Heavy wall trays can be made lighter by milling material from bottom of tray. Mill to form ribs to keep stiffness.

4. If load on tray speeds up as it passes over unit and slows down in the area between the unit and support bearing the tray is not rigid enough.
SOLUTION: Replace with stronger and more rigid tray. Heavy loads can only be transported on a tray that will not sag.

5. Lack of oil will cause unit to run slow.

WARNING Do not operate without air filter or oiler.
